The Camdenville P&C band program
Join the Camdenville bands led by Paolo Franks!
The Camdenville training band and concert band play a broad range of fun songs. Students are usually members of the training band for one year before joining the concert band. Students are required to attend weekly rehearsals, practise at home regularly and have individual lessons.
Weekly rehearsals are in the school music room.
Training band – Fridays 8-9am
Concert band – Fridays 9-10am
The bands perform within and outside the school such as at joint band days with neighbouring schools, school events and community festivals.
The cost of participating in the training and concert bands is $10 per week payable at the beginning of each term. We ask that your child commits to the band program for the school year.
Instruments
Students can play a wide range of instruments including flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, horn, bass guitar, tuned percussion and drums.
Sax and Woodwind in Camperdown offers a program to rent new and used instruments for the first year, and if the student decides to keep the instrument the rental payments already paid contribute to the full purchase of the instrument. This is a good approach for a range of instruments including flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone.
The NSW Department of Education Arts Unit has a large collection of instruments available for parents to hire. Instruments are available for hire on a term by term or annual basis.
Band leader
Paolo Franks is a freelance trombonist, tutor, and conductor. He conducts the Camdenville concert and training bands and offers tutoring in brass instruments.
Tutors
Brass and clarinet tutors currently visit the school. Additional tutors are available and can provide tutoring during school time. The P&C can provide a list of available tutors.
